Garden Cultivators

Garden cultivators are available in long (48-60") and short (12") varieties to break up dirt that has been left after aerating or spading. Cultivators can have either one, three or four curved tines that cut through the soil depending on the size and weight the gardener prefers.

Small hand cultivators are great for container planting or planting and weeding in the garden. At times they can be faster to use and easier to break up dirt and clay than long-handled cultivators - but only in a smaller area (you don't want to be bending over for too long).

For heavy-duty work, a rotary garden cultivator with sharp spurs can cut through much harder soil without trouble. This is an ideal tool if dealing with a large yard, hard dirt or plan to do a lot of prep work for planting.
